How to write on Wikipedia

Wikipedia structure

A page can lead somewhere but nothing can directly depend on it

A category is made by some pages (at least one). A category always has its own parent category - this way they can make a hierarchic structure. Link to a category is being marked by a double arrowO "»".

A category doesn't have any text content. Instead of that its page Hlavni (Main) is shown - every category has its own. For example when making category AMV-Tvůrce the page AMV-Tvůrce.Hlavni will be shown.

How to create a new page

I have a group AMVTypes and want to make subcategory Action

 • I open the page AMVTypes for editing and click on the icon of folder . On the position of the cursor will be inserted the following code:
NovaKategorie

NovaKategorie »?

 • overwrite NovaKategorie to Action
 • I will save the page AMVTypes and click the link, that way I will enter into editing of the main page in the new category Action and I can start writing.
 • you can use the following template - Site.CategoryTemplate

I have the category Action and want to create a page Sierra Lorna in it

 • I open the category Action for editing and add a link in the following style
SierraLorna

SierraLorna?

 • I save the Action category and click the newly made link, that way I will enter the editing of the new page SierraLorna and I can start writing.
 • as the page's author add the following code into the page's header:
%rfloat% '-the author is Jarník-'
! Nazev článku

the author is Jarník

Nazev článku

How to insert a link to other page in a different category

The link can be written in either absolute or relative address

Absolute address looks as follows:

FAQ

FAQ

The categories are separated by a hyphen, the name of the page by a fullstop.

Relative path uses special letter:

 • letter ^ means a category one step higher - a page one category higher: ^.Stránka
 • letter - means some subcategory - page in a subcategory: -Podkategorie.Stránka

How to insert a picture

The pictures are shared within a category - pages in the same category can share a same picture. The pitures can't be heritated among the categories, though - for example a picture in a Editor category won't be accessible to the pages in Editor-Planning category.

Firstly upload the picture on Wiki using the Edit > Nahrát menu. Under the uploading form is a list of the pictures that are currently for use in the category.

Be aware! The file of the picture can't have any special letters in the filename, in that case it's necessary to rename it.

There are two ways to isnert a picture into the page - In a full size and using a thumbnail.

For inserting the picture in a full size click the icon of a paper clipper and write the name of the picture. The resulting code will look like this:

Attach:klapka_small.png

Thumbnail of a picture

If the picture is too big and it wouldn't fit the size of the page, insert only its clickable thumbnail. Be aware! Thumbnails work only for picture uploaded to this Wiki, syou can't make thumbnails of any pictures linked from "the outside".

Click the icon of the picture and again enter the name of the file with the picture. If you want the thumbnail to be aligned to the left, write %lfloat% in front of it (simmilarily right - %rfloat% ):

%lfloat% (:thumb klapka_small.png:)

Picture with caption

You can add a caption to an image using the caption parameter. Sometimes it's necessary to add the block width in which the image and caption lie - using width parameter. Be aware! Thumbnails with caption must have align defined by float parameter. Usual %rfloat% unfortunately doesn't work here. Example:

(:thumb klapka_small.png caption="any image caption" width="150"
float="left":)

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetuer tristique justo tellus lobortis
est. Et et Nam semper et ante lacinia nibh quis vitae egestas. Id nibh Sed

How to insert a YouTube video

From the YouTube address copy only its code (after the ?v= in the address line) and enter it using the following command:

(:youtube Jto-hE8BfdI :)

How to delete a page?

All of the page's text replace with the word delete and save the page. It will automatically be deleted.

How to hide a page?

In editing menu choose the item Atributy stránky. You will be shown a form in which you can set a page for showing up or editing of the page.

How to find all the dead links?

In the editing menu choose the item Reference, a form will appear. Set the first field to missing. The second field specifies the names of the missing pages, the third then the pages on which the missing links are being looked for. In the end just check Display referencing pages - thanks to that a list of all the pages that link to every missing page will appear. Then just click Search.

How to write in more languages

I will write the page in a format of:

(:selectlang:)\\
(:if userlang cz:)
Czech text\\
(:if userlang en:)
English text\\
(:if:)
Text, which will be shown in all languages

English text
Text, which will be shown in all languages

Selectlang serves for a language switching and can be placed anywhere on the page. It shows only the languages that are being present on the page in the "if userlang xx" expression (so cz and en in the example above) and so it's kind of unnecessary to place it on a page in one language only.
Be aware, this switch doesn't show when you generate a preview, it's generated when you save only!
